About Us

With a strong international foundation, Yanira E. Zavala brings decades of experience and a global perspective to her legal practice. Her academic journey includes a junior year abroad in Paris, France, followed by work with the United Nations in Geneva and New York prior to attending law school. She pursued her legal education at Seton Hall University School of Law, graduating in 1994 and further expanded her expertise through advanced studies in international law, including programs in Tokyo, Japan.

Ms. Zavala began her legal career serving as a judicial clerk from 1994 to 1995 to the Honorable Judge Shirley Tolentino, the first Black woman appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court. During this time, she gained invaluable insight into the judicial process. From 1995 to 1997, she further developed her experience by managing several law offices throughout New Jersey. In 1997, she founded the Yanira Zavala Law Office on Watchung Avenue in North Plainfield, New Jersey, where she has proudly served her community for over 30 years.
